Kimberly Kane Returns to the Director's Chair With ORGY UNIVERSITY

 

The mighty Kimberly Kane, my favorite director and performer in all of modern porn, returns this month with a new film Orgy University.  A take off on Brian De Palma's classic Carrie, Orgy University promises to combine several of my favorite things including my love for horror films and double penetration so it is not to be missed!  More info on the film can be found over at Vivid and Kimberly's Tumblr page and the hardcore trailer can be viewed here.  I will post my thoughts once I get a chance to watch it. 

Classics from Adult Cinema's Golden Age: Marilyn Chambers' Private Fantasies #1 (1983)

Shot around the same time as the landmark Insatiable (although not released until nearly three years later), Marilyn Chamber' Private Fantasies #1 can now be viewed as one of the key 'transitional' films of the adult age.  While Insatiable had been a shot on film as a big-budget story-driven odyssey, Private Fantasies #1 was a low-budget vignette driven feature with the focus just on the sex.  If Insatiable was one of the key final films of the Golden Age of the Seventies then Private Fantasies # 1 stands as one of key first-films of the eighties video-age and it, and all of its sequels, helped pave the way for today's gonzo all-sex works.  

While Private Fantasies # 1 never comes close to reaching the greatness of Insatiable it is admittedly a fairly hot feature and it operates as an interesting companion to Chamber's greatest film, as it shares not only a key co-star but also uses some of the same music.   

After a brief introduction Private Fantasies #1 gets off to a thunderous start with a rematch between Chambers and her most famous Insatiable co-star, legendary John Holmes.  The smoldering pairing, set in a gym, stands as one of the great scenes in both stars' iconic canons.  

Featuring gymnastic style sex, a fully-hard Holmes (unlike in Insatiable), anal and a drenching facial, this scene between Chambers and Holmes is a scorcher and it stands as a vibrant reminder to the greatness of both of these much-missed giants.   

In Jill Nelson's absolutely essential book Golden Goddesses Marilyn Chambers called Private Fantasies #1 "very well-orchestrated and (that it had) a gymnastic feel" and that can especially be felt in this incredible first scene that pairs two of the undeniable greats together.  

Concluding with a shot that deliberately echos one of Insatiable's most celebrated moments, the gym scene between Marilyn and John alone makes Private Fantasies #1 essential viewing for fuck-film fans.

Private Fantasies #1 stumbles severely in the next two sequences by offering up scenes from a film not featuring Chambers, the 1976 historical porn-comedy The Spirit of Seventy Sex.  This odd choice by the producer's of the film is clearly a time-padding move and it's a shame that at least one additional scene with Chambers couldn't have been used instead.  The fact that both scenes are fairly lame (even the lovely Annette Haven as Martha Washington can't save this) makes their inclusion all the more regretful.  

Private Fantasies #1 thankfully picks up some steam again in another sequence with Chambers, this one is a three-way lesbian tryst set in, of all places, a darkened bowling alley.  The romp, which pairs Marilyn with Jane Lindsay and Ashley Welles, makes for a fairly stylish and well-done sequence even though it ultimately pales next to the opening (and closing) of the film.  

While the signature bowling pin of the scene is never really utilized, Chambers second scene of Private Fantasies # 1 features enough active oral and enthusiastic anilingus to justify its place in the film and Chambers does look absolutely gorgeous here and is in astounding physical shape.  

Private Fantasies #1 closes with a scene nearly as memorable as its opening, although Chambers really doesn't have a lot of chemistry with either Mike Ranger or Michael Morrison, although any scene that features Marilyn Chambers in a cheer-leading outfit tag-teamed by two-guys on a bar is worthy of any porn-lovers serious attention.  

While her two-stars are a bit weak, the luminous Chambers controls this very hot sequence.  She's bubbly, funny, lovely and ferociously sexy.  

The threeway that closes Private Fantasies #1 is fairly routine when all is said and done but the cherry in the ass is a nice slightly perverse touch and the bite on the cock that closes the film is fairly memorable.  

The real reason to watch Marilyn Chambers' Private Fantasies #1 is, of course, Marilyn herself.  Among a handful of adult stars who could be called the greatest of all-time Marilyn Chambers felt big-budget even in a low-budget work like Private Fantasies #1 and it is a shame that the film, and its many sequels, haven't been better represented on disc.  While not a great film by any means, Marilyn Chambers' Private Fantasies #1 is, in hindsight, an important work and a potent reminder to Marilyn's lasting appeal as an actor, icon and sexual powerhouse.
